Symphony Math Automatic Updates
Description Symphony Math attempts automatic program updates when they become available. Automatic updates are easy to activate. Just launch the Symphony Math program on your computer. As long as you are connected to the internet and have permission to change files on your computer, Symphony Math will automatically download and install the update.

In some cases, school computers may be "locked down" to prevent students from making unwanted changes to the computer. In these situations the Symphony Math update can only take place when someone signs in to the computer as the "Administrator" and then launches the Symphony Math program. Signing in to the computer as "Administrator" will allow the Symphony Math update to occur when the program is launched.
If the automatic update begins, but you do not see any progress in the window shown above, then your computer does not have permission to download files from the Symphony Learning server. To resolve this issue, make sure students and teachers have exceptions in your proxy server and/or internet filter that allow access to our web servers. A full description of this issue and resolution is available in this FAQ: Ensuring Student Access to the Symphony Web Servers.
Windows Vista and 7 Note Depending on the original installation, automatic updates may not be permitted when students run Symphony Math. If the automatic update does not start, it may be necessary to run the program as an Administrator. To do this, right-click on the Symphony Math icon and select 'Run As Administrator'.
If you encounter any other problems during the autoupdate process, it may be easiest to perform a full reinstall of the Symphony Math program. The latest version of Symphony Math is always found on our web site, in the Downloads section. No student records will be affected by a program reinstall.
