Program Slowness, Crashes and/or 'An Error Has Occurred' Messages
Description When using the Symphony Math program, performance is very poor. Symptoms may include skipping audio, mouse slowness, and student task displays that do not refresh from one task to another. Program crashes may also occur.
Step 1: Change the Video Driver used in the program

Symphony Math uses a 3d rendering engine. The Symphony platform supports several 3D driver sets, including OpenGL (all platforms), DirectX7.0 (Windows only), and Software Rendering (all platforms).

1. Start Symphony Math.

2. At the signin screen (list of names), click the 'Settings' button in the upper left of the screen.

3. Click the 'Graphics/Sound' tab from the right side of the Settings Control Panel.

4. Choose a Video Driver from the pull-down menu under 'Video Driver'. (Choose the first available driver in the list.)

5. Click 'Apply' to save your changes.

6. Go back to the signin screen. Enter the program as a student and select any activity from the menu. If the problem is not resolved, repeat steps 2-5 with the other Video Drivers available in the list above.

Step 2: Update the Video Driver If none of the drivers above produce desirable results, an updated driver may be necessary.
